VCA Canada 404 is a specialty veterinary referral hospital with board-certified specialists in the disciplines of surgery, internal medicine, dermatology and anesthesia. It is also home to “Bailey’s Place”, a one of a kind hydrotherapy centre for use in fitness, wellness and rehabilitation programs tailored by veterinarians certified in canine rehab.
VCA Canada 404 started in 2004, with husband and wife veterinary team Dr. Kevin Isakow (board-certified specialist in small animal surgery) and Dr. Joanne Fagnou (certified canine rehabilitation practitioner) offering referral surgical and rehabilitation services out of a small facility in Aurora, Ontario. Having both worked in large referral centres, Drs. Isakow and Fagnou were inspired to offer specialized care in multiple disciplines to the people and pets of York Region. This goal was realized in 2007, when VCA Canada 404 opened its doors in a brand new facility in Newmarket, Ontario. Over the next 5 years, veterinarians specializing in the disciplines of internal medicine, anesthesiology and dermatology were recruited to the VCA Canada 404 team.
The Next Chapter
As the VCA Canada 404 Veterinary Referral Hospital has evolved, it has become clear that for optimal ongoing patient care and client service, a new model of care must be undertaken. In June 2013, the hospital relocated to new premises in Newmarket, situated at 510 Harry Walker Parkway South (opening it’s doors June 25th, 2013). This move was necessary to begin offering 24/7 EMERGENCY CARE, in addition to the ongoing complement of specialty care. We feel that having an emergency department for pets that NEVER CLOSES, backed by the expertise of board-certified specialists, is the best model of care we can provide the people, pets and general practice veterinarians of York Region and beyond.
