“Bailey’s Place” is the result of Dr. Joanne Fagnou’s many years of re-configuring her canine rehabilitation practice to suit the needs of pet owners who simply need a place to safely exercise their arthritic, senior dogs. Her mission: to provide an affordable canine community centre/dog fitness facility, where devoted pet owners can come and enjoy a coffee, while their dog enjoys the many benefits of hydrotherapy in of of the centre’s 2 underwater treadmills or 16′ x 8′ Triathlon Swim Spa.
Who can join? Pet owners can access the facility directly, without referral. A health assessment called a “fit to swim”, performed by one of the 404’s rehab certified veterinarians, is required to ensure that there are no health concerns that would make hydrotherapy unsafe (heart disease for e.g.), to establish a baseline of a pet’s starting level of fitness, and to ensure there are no orthopaedic concerns which might be aggravated (or better yet, to allow for a tailor made rehabilitation program to help). Dogs who have had recent orthopaedic surgery must be seen through the rehabilitation service to undergo a full rehabilitation assessment and appropriate rehabilitation prior to entering the fitness program.
