The team at VCA Canada Guardian, which includes board-certified specialists, works with you and your family veterinarian through referrals to offer you the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options available.

What is a referral?

A referral is a written or verbal order from your primary care doctor to see a specialist for a specific medical service. If your pet requires referral care, your primary care veterinarian will contact us to start the referral process; they will then send a referral form, medical records and relevant diagnostic results.

Depending on the nature of the referral, you will be contacted to book an appointment with one of our specialists or will be asked to transfer your pet directly to our hospital for continued care.
