Challenging Cancer

When the Crists brought their beautiful eight-year old Golden Retriever to our Cancer Centre, they were heartbroken and afraid that little could be done for Annie’s cancer. But Annie’s referring family veterinarian knew that our training and experience in planning and delivering complex cancer treatments offered Annie an excellent chance of returning to happy days with her family and a meaningful quality of life.

Compassion from the first moment

We understand that a pet’s cancer diagnosis affects the whole family. We know what it means to confront life and death decisions. We care not only about successfully treating a patient’s cancer, but about what the remainder of that patient’s life will be like. That is why we are committed to clear, open and honest discussions of treatment goals and options. And why we promise to maintain written and verbal treatment summaries and care instructions with each patient’s family and referring veterinarian during and after treatment.

Caring and expertise from a cohesive team

Like all veterinarians, we entered this field with a strong commitment to better the lives of the animals around us. Each of us who chose to challenge cancer – medical oncologists, cancer surgeons, radiation therapists – also made the decision to obtain specialized training in our discipline including post-graduate residency leading to board-certification that assures expertise and competency. Together, we are an integrated team with a consistent approach that is able and caring.
