Dianne Lawrence, DVM graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1980. After graduation, she worked in mixed practice (large and small animal), at the Smylie Animal Hospital in North Bay.She continued mixed practice when she joined the Pine Ridge Veterinary Hospital in Cobourg in 1981. Dr. Lawrence joined the Barrie Veterinary Hospital during 1983. She regularly attends continuing education meetings with the Georgian Bay Veterinary Association in Orillia, to keep up with the many advancements in veterinary medicine. She also researches difficult cases on the Veterinary Information Network, which the Barrie Veterinary Hospital is a member of. Her animal family includes Jack and Copper.
J. Martin, DVM was born and raised in Newfoundland. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University in 1989. In 1997 he graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College and was awarded the American Animal Hospital Association prize for the student most proficient in small animal medicine and surgery. He also received the Upjohn Achievement Award, the Ontario Veterinary Deans Scholarship and the International Plowing Match Scholarship. Dr. Martin’s areas of special interest include internal medicine, ophthalmology, oncology, and avian and small mammal medicine. He is especially interested in ultrasonography and has taken numerous ultrasound courses in the US and Canada. Dr. Martin regularly attends veterinary conferences and uses the internet to stay current on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine. Dr. Martins’s furry family include Marcel, Gidget, Minnie, Minou, Miss Madelaine, Mooshie, Sunny and Taylor.
Dennis Mudde, DVM was born and raised just south of Barrie. He graduated from Barrie Central Collegiate in 1983 and went on to attend the University of Guelph. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1989. Dr. Mudde then spent one year in a mixed animal practice in Collingwood. He returned to Barrie in 1990 and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery. He joined the staff of the Barrie Veterinary Hospital in April of 1996. Since that time Dr. Mudde has maintained his interest in general medicine and surgery but has developed a special interest in more extensive soft tissue surgery and orthopedic surgery.
Pauline vanVeen, DVM graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1982. Since that time she practiced first in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia then in Bramalea, Ontario. She has been with the Barrie Veterinary team since 2007. She attends many continuing education courses and seminars and donates her time to both dog and cat rescue organizations. Pauline’s other interests include horse back riding, camping, canoeing and folk music. Dr. vanVeen’s pets include a Brittany Spaniel, a Stabyhoun and three senior cats. In the past she has also owned and loved a German Shepherd and two mixed breed dobermans. Dr. vanVeen is presently a member of the Barrie Kennel and Obedience Club and recently received her license which allows her to go to remote locations in northern Ontario to run spay/neuter clinics. This allows the communities with no veterinary care to control their dog overpopulation problems.
