Emery Cyfra, Veterinarian
Emery Cyfra grew up on a dairy farm in Symons Valley just north of the city of Calgary. Inspired by veterinarians that visited the farm, Emery, at the age of six years old, became interested in our profession. He became familiar with a number of veterinarians in the city and, after volunteering at Animal Clinic and completing his Bachelor of Science through the University of Calgary, qualified for entry to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduation in 1977, Dr.Cyfra joined the Forestlawn group of practices in Calgary. He spent six months there and moved to Animal Clinic Small Animal Division in January 1978, became a partner and opened Animal Clinic West. Between 1991 and 1993 Dr. Cyfra received a Veterinary Management Certificate from Purdue University in Indiana. In 1997 until the year 2000 Dr.Cyfra was on AVMA Counsel as the Calgary representative. Dr. Cyfra moved exclusively to Animal Clinic West in 2003 and now practices there exclusively.
