Dr. Richard Weger is a native Calgarian who spent much of his early career in the field of genetics, having received his Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biotechnology from the University of Alberta. He has been involved in many high profile scientific projects including the Bovine Genome Project.
However, hearing the call of the wild, he desired more direct involvement with animal life and received his Veterinary Degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He has volunteered his time with many animal organizations (Edmonton Valley Zoo, Edmonton Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, and the SPCA) as well as being a regular on the Pet Show on Talk Radio 770.
Dr. Weger has a special interest in exotic animals and has spent much of his continuing education in the pursuit of that knowledge. Species he deals with on a regular basis include; ferrets, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, sugar gliders, degus, hamsters, rabbits, chinchillas, and many more. If you have any more questions regarding the husbandry of an exotic pet, feel free to contact Dr. Weger.
