Dr. Iain Chynoweth grew up in Dundee, Scotland and attended the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1992. He wanted to be a veterinarian since being about 12 years old as he has always enjoyed science and has a lifelong interest in animals of every species, especially dogs and cats.

As a co-owner of four veterinary hospitals in Calgary, Forest Lawn Animal Hospital, Marlborough Animal Hospital, McKenzie Towne Animal Hospital and Riverbend Animal Hospital, for over 25 years Iain has seen a lot of change in veterinary medicine and remains passionate about the veterinary profession and the importance of our relationship with our furry companions. Iain is the Medical Director of the four hospitals and is also an Area Medical Director with VCA Canada.

Dr. Chynoweth is married to Melody, who is a Realtor, and they have a son, Euan who is a university student, as well as a Spinone Italiano called Gemma and an adorable cat called Gaston. Together they enjoy outdoor activities including walking with Gemma, cycling, skiing, kayaking and hiking, as well as travelling when time allows. Dr. Chynoweth enjoys being active and is an advocate for physical activity and meditation as a means to improve wellbeing.

While at work, Dr. Chynoweth finds surgery and dentistry to be very fulfilling areas of his practice as well as client communication and building and maintaining relationships with his clients and their precious companions.
