Dr. Chynoweth grew up in Dundee, Scotland and attended the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1992. He wanted to be a veterinarian since being about 12 years old as he has always enjoyed science and has a need to understand how things work (he liked to ask “why” a lot as a child).
Upon receiving his veterinary degree, Dr. Chynoweth moved to Hong Kong and worked for the Hong Kong R.S.P.C.A. seeing many animals every day with all kinds of interesting tropical diseases. After about 2 and a half years in Asia, he fulfilled a long term dream and relocated to Canada to work at the Forest Lawn Veterinary Hospital, where he became one of the owners in 1996.
Dr. Chynoweth is married to Melody, who is a Realtor, and they have a son, Euan, as well as a Spinone Italiano called Tony. Together they enjoy outdoor activities including skiing, hiking and fishing and travelling to visit Melody’s family in the US and Iain’s family in Scotland. Dr. Chynoweth enjoys being active and trains regularly at his local CrossFit gym which he finds to be the ideal way to start the day.
While at work, Dr. Chynoweth finds surgery and dentistry to be very fulfilling areas of his practice as well as client communication and building and maintaining relationships with his clients and their precious companions.
