Wade Wright, Veterinarian
Dr. Wade Wright is originally from Kanata having grown up in Glen Cairn. After high school he left for Toronto and worked as a paramedic for 12 years where he had incredible life experiences, which included delivering 2 babies! He then decided to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College with his degree in 2003.
Dr. Wright’s professional interests are broad. They include veterinary dentistry, greyhound medicine and ultrasound. He attended the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore, Maryland and acquired skills in advanced dental techniques. Dr. Wade acquired training in ultrasound at in Ottawa, Toronto and Ohio State University.
Dr. Wright has served as a board member for various local and provincial organizations such as the Ottawa Carleton Veterinary Emergency Hospital, Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Central Canada Veterinary Association. He is a people oriented person and has developed relationships within the local community that include animal rescue groups (Golden Retriever Rescue, Adopt a Greyhound, Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation) and he also donates his time as a volunteer at Roger Neilson House (a hospice for pediatric palliative care) in Ottawa. There are many aspiring veterinarians so Wade finds it easy to mentor them as they share a common passion for helping pets and their owners. He is a frequent guest speaker for students at local high schools and has even been a keynote speaker for a few graduating classes.
When Wade is not working he enjoys travelling with wife and daughter and spending time with his black Labrador Retriever, Bert and his cat, Wendel. He is a self-proclaimed golf fanatic and loves to downhill ski.
Dr. Wright has even has his 15 minutes of fame! He and his wife (then girlfriend) were in a nationally televised commercial for a chocolate bar. Their faces were on the side of buses, in subway cars, etc. They used their proceeds to have a wonderful holiday together.
