Heather Gordon, Veterinarian, Medical Director
Dr. Heather Gordon was born and raised in Toronto, and attended McGill University in Montreal, where she obtained an honours B.Sc. in Microbiology and Immunology, and developed a life-long love of looking into the microscope. A few years of travelling followed this degree, and eventually, a move to Calgary to pursue a DVM at Canada's newest vet school, UCVM. She graduated from UCVM in 2014 and immediately began working overnight shifts at a busy Calgary emergency hospital. It was an exciting but challenging place to start, and she learned to love emergency medicine and hospitalized case management.
In 2017, she moved with her young family to Kelowna, and took on a GP position here at Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre. After the birth of her second son, and a global pandemic turning everything upside-down, she moved to a purely primary care position at Rutland Pet Hospital. The variety of cases, clients, and budgets at Rutland proved to be another great learning opportunity; it allowed her to become more creative and adaptable in her treatment approaches. Now, she is excited to return to the team at Tri Lake, and to take on a new role as Medical Director.
