Paw It Forward is VCA Canada’s national community outreach initiative focused on caring for life’s greatest companions. This initiative supports our national, regional and local community endeavors, including supporting humane societies, rescue groups and SPCAs, and enhancing awareness and learning of animal health and welfare issues. Paw It Forward also provides food for displaced pets across Canada and assists local families and pets in need. This initiative engages the entire community – VCA Canada and our clients, local supporting agencies and their clients, and our vendor partners – in a united effort to enhance and celebrate the human-animal bond.
We understand the impact caring for pets can have on a family. The human-animal bond creates a unique relationship that is everlasting and unlike any other. Caring for pets can ease loneliness, reduce stress and anxiety, promote social interaction, and encourage exercise. Pets are non-judgmental, loyal and trustworthy. They provide unconditional love and affection, social and emotional support and a deep sense of comfort. For families dealing with hardship, the importance of this bond can be even more critical to their overall well-being. Pets are a cherished member of many families, and can potentially be one’s only family.
VCA Canada understands the importance of the human-animal bond. We know that it is not uncommon for marginalized pet parents to sacrifice their own food for their pets. We realize that many such pet parents struggle to provide medical care, vaccinations and spaying or neutering for their beloved animals. We stand ready to provide support and guidance to these families as they care for life’s greatest companions.
Each year, through the Paw It Forward initiative, we provide millions of dollars to support various initiatives across Canada.
