Amy Waterhouse, Medical Director
Dr. Amy is one of our top notch veterinarians, the medical director and co-owner of Dalhousie Varsity Animal Hospital.
Amy hails from the East Coast originally where she attended the University of New Brunswick and Dalhousie University for her Bachelor of Science, and attended Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI for her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating in 2002, her journey (and her husband) brought her to the beautiful blue skies of Alberta. Amy now resides in Calgary with her husband, two wonderful kids, two sweet and crazy Labrador Retrievers, Molly and Charlie and a two Maine Coon cats named Vincent and Ivan.
Amy is an avid spinner and loves her spin classes. She loves collecting and sometimes reading books, she gardens in the summer and knits in the winter. Her newest fair weather pastime includes riding her motorcycle. She got her motorcycle license in 2021 and has had the best summers riding. Amy also loves live music and going to concerts with her husband. She is a huge Springsteen fan.
Amy has a special interest in veterinary dentistry. She has been focusing on dental surgery since 2007 and loves that she still learns new things all the time from patients.
When asked what is her favourite part of working on the Dalhousie Varsity Team, she said that she loves teaching and educating both the team and the clients. She loves seeing team members shine. Her heart glows when owners come back to us with new furry family members. Amy tends to get a lot of referrals from existing clients and feels incredibly grateful and humbled.
Dr. Amy’s veterinary superpower (other than her amazing veterinary skills), is that she is a wonderful leader for our team and motivator. Her laugh rings throughout the clinic and brings joy to whomever hears it. She also consistently makes our team feel appreciated in multiple different ways.
