Brooke Berard, Veterinarian
Dr. Berard has devoted her veterinary career to dogs and cats in general vet practice, enjoying and valuing the long-term connections she fosters with clients and pets. She is grateful for the contagious enthusiasm for pet health and quality care that exudes from all staff members here at VCA Dalhousie Varsity Animal Hospital.
A side passion in Dr. Berard's veterinary world is teaching. She currently holds a sessional faculty position at UCVM in the Professional Skills program, providing communication coaching for students in simulated clinical scenarios – training veterinary students “bedside manner” by developing their capacity for compassion and perspective. She has also instructed senior veterinary students in their practical rotations, as well as mentored young veterinary students.
Travel has always been a large part of Dr. Berard's personal interests, and she is thankful to have visited some amazing animal ecosystems – meandering through King Penguin colonies on Antarctica, or snorkeling adjacent to sea turtles off the Galapagos Islands. Other personal interests include antiquing art classes, and dancing.
She is married with a young, active family and a beautiful rescue dog named Daisy. As a family they enjoy traveling near and far, as well as enjoying local Calgary activities.
