Dr. Lana Swain graduated from the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2017 and has been working at Dalhousie Varsity Animal Hospital ever since. She grew up in NW Calgary and prior to vet school completed a Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology at the University of Calgary in 2013.

Outside of work she enjoys fly-fishing the smaller streams in southwestern AB and southeastern BC, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and relaxing on the couch with her cat, Martin. Some may recognize Martin as he was one of our Calgary Humane Society kitties up for adoption in our reception for a little bit, however he ended up stealing the heart of Dr. Lana Swain and the lucky kitty ended up getting a permanent home with her.

As a veterinarian, Dr. Swain believes in enhancing the human-animal bond using compassionate client communication and relationship building to promote preventative health, quality of life, and evidence-based medicine. Dr. Lana's veterinary superpower lies in her remarkable attention to detail. She not only treats her patients like absolute gold but also continuously strives to expand her expertise in the veterinary field.
