Trevor Enberg

Dr. Trevor Enberg is a board-certified Veterinary Criticalist with 33 years in the veterinary field and 23 years of emergency and critical care experience. He grew up in a small city in northern Saskatchewan and was involved in any sport having to do with the water. He spent some time as a lifeguard and swimming instructor and then in the pulp/paper/forestry industry while going to the University of Saskatchewan to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree in 1988.

He obtained his DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993 and then had the advantage of spending nine years in general veterinary practice before specializing. This gives him a valuable perspective of what our referring veterinarians can do and what they need from us.

He entered an Emergency & Critical Care Residency program in 2002 and spent 20 years in a busy multi-disciplinary veterinary specialty and emergency hospital in Vancouver and the last two years in a smaller veterinary specialty and emergency hospital in southern California.

He joins the Critical Care and Emergency Department to provide the highest level of care for patients in the ICU. Dr. Enberg works collaboratively with other specialists and emergency veterinarians to ensure seamless care for each patient. Our Critical Care department receives patients as direct referrals from local veterinarians, through our Emergency Department, or as internal transfers from other specialty departments. His special interests include sepsis, trauma, electrolyte disturbances, and complicated endocrine emergencies.

When Dr. Enberg is not busy at VAERC you will usually find him running and walking the seawall of downtown Vancouver with his wife and their cat GG. He has a passion for snorkeling, free-diving, scuba diving, and underwater photography. His interest in traveling and diving has taken him and his family to many countries. Dr. Enberg is excited to be coming home to the city of Vancouver.
