We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow time to complete our patient check-in procedures. Please ensure all documentation from your family veterinarian has been sent to us before your arrival when possible. If you are transporting this information yourself, please let our client care team know what you have brought with you when you arrive. Our team will also ask for a current list of the medication(s) and food your pet is currently receiving. Please have this information available.
Once you have been checked into our hospital, you and your pet will meet with one of our veterinary technicians and/or veterinarians, who will take a thorough history of your pet’s condition and examine your pet. Once the physical examination is complete, a diagnostic plan will be outlined to further specify what is the best course of action for your pet.
In almost every case, further testing is required to arrive at a specific diagnosis of your pet’s condition. Testing may include x-rays, blood work, urinalysis, biopsies or more. In some cases, multiple departments/specialists may work together to get a better overall picture of your pet’s health and determine the best treatment plan for you and your pet. We understand that there is often a lot of information brought forward regarding diagnostic tests and findings. If you require clarification on anything presented to you, please ask questions; we’re here to help.
All diagnostic tests and findings are included in your pet’s medical record and provided to your family veterinarian. We will also provide you with your own copy of take-home instructions, including any/all significant findings.
Should your pet require hospitalization or if they are being admitted to the hospital, there are a few guidelines to follow. For planned admissions for anesthesia, surgery, or various other procedures, you may be directed to withhold food for 12 hours. Water is usually allowed to be given to your pet until admission, but please ask a team member for confirmation.
