Emergency & Neurology Booking for Non-Ambulatory Patients

In order to better serve our referring veterinary community we have introduced an online booking system for emergency appointments. This system is specifically designed for non-ambulatory patients who are seen by referring clinicians after hours or over the weekend when the Neurology Department is closed. Where appropriate, this provides an opportunity for a non-ambulatory patient to be seen directly by our Neurology team as early as possible depending on availability.

Is This an Emergency?

  • If your patient is in crisis, refer them to our AVSE Emergency Department.
  • If your patient is stable, use the online booking system for a next-business-day Neurology appointment.
  • For same-day referrals during regular hours, please call the Neurology department directly.

 Emergency Appointment Booking

  • Submit records, blood work, and radiographs to [email protected] before the appointment.
  • Inform the client of the consultation cost (including emergency fees): $571.00 CAD + HST.
  • Our team will confirm the appointment with the client. If your client is travelling from outside Ottawa, forward the booking confirmation and directions.
  • Please inform your client that this appointment will likely be a drop-off. The attending veterinarian will contact the owner as soon as the assessment is complete to discuss the treatment plan.

  • Mon-Tue emergency bookings become available as of Friday evening (2 slots each for Monday/Tuesday)
  • Wed-Fri emergency bookings become available as of 6:00 PM the night before (2 slots/day)

PLEASE utilize this service ONLY to book NON-ambulatory neurologic appointments!

If you have an emergency between 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM please call us at 613-731-9911. For any other walking pet, or if the bookings are not available, please email us (attaching the patient records), and we will contact the owners within the next business day to find a suitable time while prioritizing non-walking patients.
