While completing a degree in biochemistry and biotechnology, Maria worked part time at a couple of veterinary hospitals. This confirmed for her that she wanted to work with animals and their owners. She became a registered veterinary technician (more years ago than she wants to admit!), and started working at a 24 hour emergency hospital. After a number of years there, she finally settled in at the Pretoria Pet Hospital 11 years ago. Her life is run by her husband, two boys and two evil kitties.
