Dr. Birch left his hometown of Montreal in 1979 for post secondary education in Toronto. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1986.
Following graduation, Dr. Birch practiced large and small animal medicine in Belleville, Ont., before moving to Toronto where he practiced at several small animal hospitals, including the Veterinary Emergency Clinic.
Dr. Birch spent the next 30 years practicing at two general practices in Pickering, ON. When not at work, Dr. Birch spends time with his wife Lisa, and three children, Michael, Sara and Cameron. He has a Golden Retriever name Cedar, one cat, Antoinette. He is regularly found enjoying his weekends at their cottage.
