Dr. Shikha Sahota grew up in Punjab, a state with rich agricultural land in India with a concentration on dairy farming. Growing up, Shika spent her time playing on farms with her two younger brothers and eating her mother's delicious homemade food. Her father was her inspiration for becoming a veterinarian. During her childhood, he worked in veterinary hospitals, which allowed her to spend many hours within the walls of a clinic playing doctor.
Shikha graduated from Khalsa College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in 2015 and spent the first year of her career working as an assistant professor at Guru Kashi University. In 2017, she was selected as a Government Veterinary Officer in Punjab and served that position until she immigrated to Canada with her husband in 2019. Her husband has been her biggest supporter throughout her journey of upgrading her veterinary license and passing the NAVLE, which she did successfully in 2020. Shika joined VCA All West Animal Hospital in 2021 and has been working towards her long-term goal of mastering her surgical and endoscopy skills.
In her free time, she likes to travel with her husband and enjoys dancing and listening to music.
