Dr. Young grew up south of Ottawa riding horses and rescuing any animal (wild or domesticated) that she and her sisters came across. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Honours Biology and a Masters in Animal Behaviour at the University of Ottawa. Before veterinary school Dr. Young worked as a veterinary assistant at Alta Vista Animal Hospital. This is where she developed an interest in emergency and critical care, and the passion to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Young attended veterinary school at the University of Melbourne in Australia. On the other side of the world, Dr. Young has been fortunate enough to provide treatment to a wide diversity of animals including Australian wildlife and Asian elephants in Thailand. In 2017 she graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Melbourne. Following graduation, she was very happy to re-join the Alta Vista team as an emergency veterinarian and loves coming up with solutions to the unique cases she sees in the emergency department.
Being a country girl at heart, Dr. Young enjoys horseback riding, hiking, sports and any other activity that takes her outdoors.
