Joy is the Emergency RVT Team Lead at CARE. She graduated as a Registered Veterinary Technologist from Olds College in 2018 and started her career in a rural mixed animal practice. While Joy loved the routine of general practice, she craved the excitement and demand of working in emergency medicine, so she made the switch to SAVE (another ER facility) in July 2020, becoming their RVT Team Lead in 2022. In 2024, she made the big jump into the ER RVT Team Lead role at CARE, and is excited to further her learning while supporting the development of her team and all the new grads that come along.

Joy chose the veterinary field for the same reason as most- to make a difference in every animal’s life, and she continues to strive for that goal every day. Her favourite aspects of her job relate directly to patient care and developing more skills sets, especially encouraging safety for every patient, how to respond and treat emergent situations, comfortable hospital stays, and as many cuddles as needed.
In addition to her love for emergency medicine from a patient standpoint, she loves being able to educate clients. That love of education took her to Kenya in 2020, to educate dairy farmers in Meru about all aspects of dairy herd health and production with Vets Without Borders.

On the rare occasion that Joy isn't working, she spends her time with her fiancé, Mark, and her two fur children- Alfie, a Great Dane x Great Pyrenees, and Carrots, our brown tabby (no, he’s not orange...), both of which end up at the clinic often to assist with learning, or to donate blood for other animals.
