Dr. Carissa Tong obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2016. After a short stint as a GP in London, UK, she moved to Milwaukee, USA, for an emergency and critical care (ECC) internship. She subsequently completed her ECC residency at Cornell University Veterinary Specialists in 2021 and passed her board exam the same year. Dr. Tong moved back to Canada and joined the CARE team in 2022.

Dr. Tong enjoys the unpredictable challenges of emergency medicine as well as the complexity of critically ill ICU patients. Her areas of interest include respiratory emergencies, mechanical ventilation, and the management of sepsis.

In her free time, Dr. Tong and her husband enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, climbing, and visiting new restaurants. She also enjoys spending time with her two cats, Luna and Willow, and her new puppy, Pip.
