Kianna Vandergraaf, Veterinarian

BSc, DVM

Dr. Kianna grew up in British Columbia, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Biology and Environmental Science at Trinity Western University. She later moved to Calgary, where she gained experience working in companion animal rehabilitation and as a zookeeper at The Calgary Zoo before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary in 2024.

Dr. Kianna is passionate about improving the quality of life for pets, with a particular focus on dog and cat rehabilitation. Her comprehensive care approach integrates complementary therapies to offer a more holistic treatment plan, aimed at supporting the overall well-being of your pets. She enjoys collaborating with pet owners to create customized wellness plans that address both the medical and rehabilitative needs of animals recovering from musculoskeletal injuries, surgery, chronic pain, and osteoarthritis. Starting in spring 2025, Dr. Kianna is excited to offer acupuncture services as part of her expanding treatment options.

Outside of work, Dr. Kianna enjoys camping and traveling with her husband, Dr. James Vandergraaf, who is also one of our fantastic veterinarians. Together, they care for two beloved rescue pets: Indiana Jones, a big, goofy mutt, and Goose, a one-eyed cat. Every February, the couple volunteers in Mexico, providing free spay and neuter surgeries to help control the stray animal population and support families who cannot afford veterinary care. They also dedicate time annually to volunteering with a local First Nations community, offering free wellness services for cats, dogs, and equine dental care.

Driven by a deep belief in the human-animal bond, Dr. Kianna's mission is to ensure every pet and owner experiences the joy and companionship that come with a long, healthy life together.
