Dr. Shane Blighe joined the Shawnessy team in September of 2014. He graduated from University College Dublin’s School of Veterinary Medicine. He was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland but has always enjoyed traveling and decided to move abroad to Canada over 2 years ago.
In the past, Shane has volunteered in India as well as the UK, working for animal rescue foundations. In the last 2 years, he has been working in mainly emergency medicine as well as general practice. Shane enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine but has a strong interest regarding internal medicine as well as soft tissue surgery.
Outside of work, he enjoys various sports such as soccer, skiing, running, and his own national sport of Gaelic football and hurling as well as traveling and seeing the world.
