Avery Gillick brings valuable experience with both people and animals to the VAERC. He is known for being a compassionate person , an excellent colleague, and a successful project leader. His roles at the VAERC are to mentor staff, to oversee the operation, management and construction of the new VAERC, and to facilitate its development into a premier 24-hour multi-specialty and emergency hospital. He has founded, built, and developed several veterinary hospitals in his career.
Avery believes that the core principle of veterinary medicine must be based on a pet-centered philosophy. His prior professional interests included endoscopy, gastroenterology, and the emergency care of police dogs.
Although born and raised in Quebec, he has spent a large portion of his professional career in Ontario. He now welcomes the chance to experience BC’s hospitality and geography. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and shares his passions of boating, photography, and sketching with them.
