Suann Hosie founded the Vancouver Animal Emergency Clinic in 1978. To facilitate patient care and serve the community, the hospital became a 24-hour hospital in 1985.

Suann Hosie is currently an advisor to the Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre. She continues to interact with all of the VAERC team and to be a liaison with the local veterinary practices. Suann also serves as a committee member for various professional organizations.

Suann lives with her two adopted dogs, Emmy and Maggie, and is passionate about birding and keeping fit. She travels extensively, fulfilling her personal motto “to live long and explore the natural world.”
