VCA Canada Guardian’s goal is to provide compassionate, knowledgeable care. Whether your pet requires emergency care or is in need of referral to one of our board certified specialists, our whole team is here to ensure the smallest members of your family can be looked after at all times.
Due to several factors, we are experiencing an unprecedented demand for emergency services in Edmonton. We will be limiting our capacity to care for non-urgent patients.
To manage this high demand, we may need to sporadically implement our triage protocol when we're unable to see all patients. Please follow the priority levels and instructions listed below.
It is important to call first before bringing your pet for care, we will provide guidance for your next steps.
Phase 1 - All incoming patients will be triaged and assessed by our Registered Veterinary Technologist, emergent cases requiring medical intervention will be seen. Please be prepared for long wait times.
Phase 2 - All incoming patients will be triaged and assessed by our Registered Veterinary Technologist. Patients triaged as stable or seriously ill will be redirected to seek care elsewhere, either to your primary care veterinarian or other emergency hospitals in the Edmonton area, Red Deer, or Calgary.
Phase 3 - We will be unable to evaluate or triage any patients. This will only be instituted in circumstances where key resources like staff, physical space for patients, and oxygen supply is exhausted.
