The Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital is an equipped trauma and medical facility for dogs, cats and other pets. The hospital offers emergency treatment 24/7, which is critical for those times when your regular veterinarian is not available.

An emergency is anything that concerns you regarding the health of your pet. It can be an illness, injury, a life-threatening condition or trauma. If your own veterinary hospital is closed, and you are unsure if your pet requires emergency care, please contact the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital at 905-829-9444.

AN EMERGENCY FOR YOUR PET MAY INVOLVE SOME OF THE FOLLOWING:

Trauma from being hit by a car, from receiving a bite, or burn injuries
Having trouble urinating, or is not producing urine
Unwilling or unable to eat
Difficulty breathing
Seizures, paralysis or altered consciousness
Severe vomiting and diarrhea
Known ingestion of a toxin
Shock: signs of shock which can include weakness, pale mucous membranes in the mouth, cold extremities, and an abnormal heart rate
Abnormal heart rhythm
Has undergone surgery and is not recovering or is having trouble in the first few post-operative days

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM EMERGENCY CARE AT MOVEH
Upon arrival all animals are triaged. A staff member will take your pet’s vitals signs (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure) and have a doctor perform a brief assessment. Pets with more life-threatening conditions will be seen before pets with less threatening conditions. When it is your pet’s turn to be seen by the emergency doctor they will take a history, perform a complete physical examination, make recommendations and provide an estimate for those services. All routine diagnostics can be performed on site including blood work, urinalysis and x-rays. Our emergency doctors are available to perform surgery should your pet require immediate surgical intervention.
