Marius Vasilescu, Veterinarian

DVM

Dr. Marius Vasilescu is a firm believer that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. He enjoys giving advice on preventive care and chronic disease management. When problems are severe, he will return to his first two loves: surgery and emergency medicine.

Dr. Vasilescu pursued his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (2000), Masters of Small Animals Clinical Sciences and Pharmacology (2001) and PhD – Microsurgery (2005) in his home country of Romania. Continuously looking to improve his medical knowledge, he moved to North America. Before finding Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital, he did a surgical internship at Canada West Veterinary Specialists, spent some time in a very busy small animal hospital in Florida, and an emergency practice in Toronto. Locally, he has worked as a Medical Director in North Vancouver as well as an associate or locum veterinarian at various hospitals throughout Vancouver and Burnaby.

Dr Vasilescu joined Vancouver Animal Wellness in 2014 because: “Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital is for me the best example of a harmonious blend between traditional and alternative and between medicine and gentle care. This is also the place where our clients are part of the medical team and we work together for making pets’ lives long and enjoyable. For all of these reasons, this hospital is my home.”

With a busy, young family, Dr. V shares his time outside of work between his love of sports and outdoors and a scientific project: trying to create the first weight loss diet based on dark chocolate, designer cream puffs and artisan creme brulee (don’t hesitate to ask).
