Joining the Western Veterinary Specialist Centre (WVSC) as the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for Class II and NSRD (Nuclear Substances and Radiation Devices) licenses held by the WVSC for providing external beam radiation therapy and Iodine - 131 treatments to patients. Mostly worked on the human side as Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist starting out at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary (6 years), Saskatoon Cancer Centre (14 years) and BC Cancer - Centre for the North in Prince George (10 years) I have also been involved in setting up Veterinary Radiation Therapy programs at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University Saskatchewan (2004), WVSC (2008) and more recently at the Central Victoria Veterinary Centre (2021). My role as Radiation Safety Officer would be to ensure patient, client and staff safety involving Radiation Therapy and Iodine - 131 treatments through staff education and overseeing these programs. Still active in some graduate teaching and supervision as adjunct faculty at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
