Originally from Calgary, Dr. Alison Williams completed her BSc at the University of Calgary then went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2017. It was during her clinical year of veterinary school that she developed a passion for medical oncology, after seeing how much could be done to help patients with cancer while maintaining an excellent quality of life. Following her DVM, she completed a rotating internship here at Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Center, followed by an Oncology internship at Washington State University. She then returned to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine to complete a residency in Medical Oncology.
Dr. Williams’ special interests include lymphoma, mast cell tumors, and anal sac adenocarcinoma. One of her favourite things about her profession is the close relationships she gets to form with pets and their families as they navigate the cancer diagnosis together. She is dedicated to helping owners make informed treatment decisions for their pets, including palliative care.
When she isn’t working, Alison enjoys running, hiking, snowboarding, watching hockey, or spending time with her dachshund mix (Rex), cat (Ernie) and her partner Kyle (another veterinarian).
