Dr. Gillian Mackie grew up on a farm in East Central Alberta and loved animals from a young age. She has fond memories of checking cows with her dad and spending hours in the yard playing with kittens and the family dogs over the years.
After high school she attended the University of Alberta and then was accepted into the WCVM in Saskatoon in 1998. In 2002, she graduated with a DVM and after an unforgettable 6 week trip backpacking around Europe, she started her first job at a small animal clinic in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Over the years Dr. Gillian has developed a special interest in geriatrics and end of life care. She has completed additional training with the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care and the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy. She is a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian and a Senior Dog Certified Veterinary Professional. She loves the special bonds that she forms with her clients and their pets in the comfort of their own homes.
When she is not working, she is busy mom of three boys, two dogs (Daisy and Copper) and two cats (Eddie and Eve). She loves gardening and is a passionate hockey fan.
