Dr. Gillian Mackie grew up on a farm in East Central Alberta and loved animals from a young age. She has fond memories of checking cows with her dad and spending hours in the yard playing with kittens and the family dogs over the years.
After high school she attended the University of Alberta for 3 years and then was accepted into the WCVM in Saskatoon in 1998. In 2002, she graduated with a DVM and after an unforgettable 6 week trip backpacking around Europe, she started her first job at a small animal clinic in Sherwood Park, Alberta. In 2008 she met her husband and they moved to Austin, Texas, where she worked in a small animal practice.
In 2010, Dr. Gillian and her husband returned to Sherwood Park where she lives today. Dr. Gillian currently has 2 dogs, Tempo and Daisy and 2 cats, Eve and Eddie. She loves getting to know her clients and their pets in their own homes and has a special interest in geriatrics and end of life care.
