Dr. Nikki Smith

Growing up in BC, Dr. Nikki’s family had always owned pets and she always had a soft spot for animals. Her keen interest in sciences took her to Simon Fraser University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences. As she neared the end of her degree, she found herself questioning what was next but it wasn’t until a close friend suggested veterinary medicine as a career that she realized that was exactly what she was meant to do! Shortly after, she travelled to Saskatoon to attend the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating with distinction in 2003, she worked at various small animal clinics in the Calgary area.

Her love for adventure eventually took her to UK. She lived and practiced in London, and took the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa. After another adventure took her growing family to Bogota, Colombia for several years, she is now happy to be back ‘home’, near the mountains in Calgary. She has been with Vets to Go since 2016 and loves having the privilege of seeing her patients and pet parents in the comfort of their homes. Her special interests include senior pets (especially geriatric cats!) and end of life care.

In addition to two growing boys, Dr. Nikki has a rescue dog named Wren and two tabby cats named Peso and Kwazii. She loves to travel (if you couldn’t tell!), enjoys the great outdoors, reading and jogging with her dog …..but spends much of her free time watching her kids play hockey or soccer.
