Subsequently, he pursued a Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialty Internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC)-University of Prince Edward Island in 2020 and stayed on to complete a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2023. He remained at AVC for a few additional months after his residency as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Companion Animals until his arrival to the VCA Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital and VCA Guelph Veterinary Surgery Services teams.

Dr Jelovcic has a strong interest in endocrinology, gastroenterology, minimally invasive endoscopic procedures and the art of effective communication. Dr Jelovcic is currently involved in a retrospective study evaluating whether current guidelines for baseline cortisol cut-offs can be further adjusted in dogs with hypoadrenocorticism (“Addison’s disease). He also speared-headed a pilot project evaluating the utility of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) in feline patients with chronic diarrhea, especially those that have otherwise been refractory to other treatments.

When not on clinics, Dr Jelovcic calls himself to be a “foodie” and enjoys baking, cooking and travelling.
