Originally from Victoria, Dr. Smith completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria before earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon.
Following veterinary school, he completed a rotating internship at VCA Canada CARE Centre in Calgary before moving to Tennessee, where he completed his residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Tennessee in 2026.
Dr. Smith was drawn to Internal Medicine for the diversity of cases and collaborative nature of the specialty. While he enjoys all aspects of Internal Medicine, he has particular interests in immune-mediated diseases, gastroenterology and hepatology.
Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys hiking, running and playing sports. He is excited to be back in Calgary with his cat, Lupin, and looks forward to exploring the city and nearby Rocky Mountains.
