Terri Schiller, Surgery

Dr. Schiller is an Aggie graduate from the University of British Columbia. She received her DVM degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 1987. Following graduation she spent 5 years at the North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine completing a small animal internship, a 3 year surgical residency and a 1 year clinical instructor faculty position. She has been trained in and practices all aspects of orthopaedic, soft tissue, oncologic and neurologic surgical procedures.

On returning to Canada, she and her family settled into the Vancouver area of British Columbia. She was a founding partner of the Canada West Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Vancouver where she offered referral surgical services on a mobile and a fixed basis for 19 years.

During her residency training, Dr. Schiller received extensive experience and expertise in the area of joint replacement and continues to have a keen interest in total hip, knee and elbow replacement procedures. She has been a faculty instructor for the Biomedtrix Total hip replacement training workshops since 2003, helping to train many total hip surgeons in North America and Europe. She offers online support and direct consultation and surgical services to multiple referral practices in North America for hip replacement procedures.

Dr. Schiller is certified in canine rehabilitation therapy and has a strong interest in using rehabilitation therapy to help both surgical and nonsurgical patients.

Dr. Schiller has been a part of the specialist team at VCA Canada Western Vet since August 2011. She currently provides part-time clinical service around her other commitments with the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary as a student instructor and Associate Dean of Clinical Programs.
