Dr. Roxanne Buck

Anaesthesia

BVSc, MSc, MMedVet(Anaes), PhD, DECVAA

Dr Buck obtained her Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2012. She completed a small animal rotating internship at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. Following a short time in general practice, she returned to the University of Pretoria to undertake a residency in anaesthesia. She received diplomat certification from the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia in 2019.

Dr Buck stayed at the University of Pretoria as a senior lecturer, completing her PhD on anaesthetic maintenance protocols in cheetahs while also running the anesthesia service and performing clinical work in small animal, equine and wildlife anesthesia.

Dr Buck moved to Canada in 2021. Working as an assistant professor in anesthesiology at Ontario Veterinary College, she spent most of her time doing small animal and equine anesthesia. Since 2023, Dr

Buck has been working as an anesthesiologist in private practice in Ottawa. Her primary interest is in anesthesia for cardiothoracic surgery and peri-operative pain control in dogs and cats.

When she isn’t working, Dr Buck enjoys exploring Ottawa and its surrounds with her dogs, Holly (Great Dane) and Moose (Bloodhound).
