Dr Macintyre
Dr. MacIntyre grew up in Sooke, BC where she spent years pursuing her love of horseback riding and developing her passion for animal care. As an undergraduate, Dr. MacIntyre completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Psychology at the University of Victoria. She later graduated with Great Distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, where she was awarded numerous scholarships. She was recognized with the Pfizer Highest General Proficiency Award in Veterinary Medicine, the Canadian Animal Blood Bank Award for excellence in emergency and critical care, and the Dr. Bernard Boisvert scholarship for clinical excellence and promoting client-patient communication.

After several years at a busy small animal and exotics practice in Victoria, Dr. MacIntyre decided to pursue her interest in emergency medicine.

In her spare time, Dr. MacIntyre is an avid runner and enjoys spending time at the beach with her three dogs- a Golden Retriever, Frenchie and a Puggle. She also enjoys traveling and volunteering her skills, as she has done extensively across Canada and in Honduras. She looks forward to meeting your small and exotic animals.

Emergency Care

Emergencies happen. When they do, our highly trained emergency veterinary healthcare team is dedicated to helping you and your companion any time of the day. No appointment is necessary. Whenever possible, our veterinarians work in consultation with your primary care veterinarian.

Triage/waiting:

We do everything possible to ensure that every patient receives timely access to veterinary care. Like human emergency rooms, we operate on a triage system – this means that more seriously ill or injured patients are seen before less seriously ill or injured patients. During high-volume times patients with minor ailments and injuries can experience longer wait times.

What happens “in the back”?

At times, potentially seriously injured or ill patients may be taken straight into our hospital’s triage room or treatment areas based on our triage system. These patients will be assess by a doctor immediately and receive life-saving treatment such as fluids and oxygen and/or pain medication when appropriate.
