Clare was born and raised in Calgary, AB but moved to Vancouver after high school to attend the University of British Columbia. In 2007, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology and started work as a volunteer with The Vancouver Aquarium and their Marine Mammal Rescue Centre. Seeing the work of their Vets and technicians ignited her passion for Veterinary Science and her decision to study Veterinary Medicine was made.

Clare moved to Australia in 2009 to study at The University of Queensland. During her studies, Clare worked with The Animal Emergency Service as a receptionist and found her love for Emergency Medicine. Needless to say, when an opportunity to undertake an internship with AES presented itself after graduation, she jumped at the chance.

Clare undertook and was awarded her Membership in Emergency and Critical Care in 2017 before moving back to Vancouver with her family. Clare loves the fast pace of Emergency Medicine and knowing that every shift there is the opportunity to help families in their time of need.

When she’s not working, Clare enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her Aussie rescue pups (Tate and Wally), pilates, scuba diving, kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Emergency Care

Emergencies happen. When they do, our highly trained emergency veterinary healthcare team is dedicated to helping you and your companion any time of the day. No appointment is necessary. Whenever possible, our veterinarians work in consultation with your primary care veterinarian.

Triage/waiting:

We do everything possible to ensure that every patient receives timely access to veterinary care. Like human emergency rooms, we operate on a triage system – this means that more seriously ill or injured patients are seen before less seriously ill or injured patients. During high-volume times patients with minor ailments and injuries can experience longer wait times.

What happens “in the back”?

At times, potentially seriously injured or ill patients may be taken straight into our hospital’s triage room or treatment areas based on our triage system. These patients will be assess by a doctor immediately and receive life-saving treatment such as fluids and oxygen and/or pain medication when appropriate.
