Tara White
Dr. Tara White is originally from Milton, Ontario. She moved to White Rock with her family in her teens and has made the West Coast her home since then. Dr. White obtained her BSc in biology from the University of Victoria where she graduated with honours and distinction. After completing a professional development program (PDP) in secondary school education and teaching senior biology, junior science, and French at the secondary school level, she quickly realized her passion was truly for veterinary medicine. She then went on to graduate from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in 2009. Dr. White stayed at the WCVM after graduation to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery. She then eagerly joined our emergency team in 2010. Dr. White’s professional interests include critical care and emergency medicine. She enjoys the variety of cases seen in emergency and referral practices. When Dr. White is not at work, she enjoys hiking with her Labrador Retrievers Bean (a chocolate lab) and Quinn (a black lab). She also enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and visiting with close friends and family.

Emergency Care

Emergencies happen. When they do, our highly trained emergency veterinary healthcare team is dedicated to helping you and your companion any time of the day. No appointment is necessary. Whenever possible, our veterinarians work in consultation with your primary care veterinarian.

We do everything possible to ensure that every patient receives timely access to veterinary care. Like human emergency rooms, we operate on a triage system – this means that more seriously ill or injured patients are seen before less seriously ill or injured patients. During high-volume times patients with minor ailments and injuries can experience longer wait times.

What happens “in the back”?

At times, potentially seriously injured or ill patients may be taken straight into our hospital’s triage room or treatment areas based on our triage system. These patients will be assess by a doctor immediately and receive life-saving treatment such as fluids and oxygen and/or pain medication when appropriate.
