Dr. Yovela Wang

Dr. Yovela Wang is a rotating intern at VCA Western in Calgary. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and also holds a Master of Science from the University of British Columbia, where she studied fish health and conservation. Dr. Wang believes strongly in individualized medicine and the importance of empathy and clear communication. She is committed to meeting each patient and family where they are—whether that means navigating complex decisions or offering day-to-day support. This approach has shaped her special interest in oncology, where a tailored care plan and strong team approach can make a big difference.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Wang enjoys spending time with her Rough Collie, Kirkland, who competes in scent detection and conformation events. She also has two cats and one of them is food-motivated enough to be trained to play a pet piano! She is also an avid tennis fan (better at cheering than playing!) and loves traveling to watch live tournaments. Dr. Wang speaks both English and Mandarin and is happy to communicate in the language families feel most comfortable with.
