Debra Henderson, Internal Medicine

Dr. Henderson graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced in emergency and general practices in Texas and Saskatoon before coming to Calgary where she joined a large general practice, managing hospitalized and critical cases. In 2005, she began a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at VCA C.A.R.E. Centre. After completing her Residency in 2008, she became board bertified in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Dr. Henderson has been practicing at VCA Western Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre since 2009 and has been Medical Director since 2010.

Dr. Henderson has co-authored several papers as well as contributing to the learning tool “Vet Board Games”. During her Residency, her research focused on diabetic ketoacidosis. She is licensed to perform radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroidism in cats. Special areas of interest include diabetes, hyperthyroidism, other endocrinopathies, hepatic, renal and immune-mediated disease.
